Fog

A poem by Josiah Findley

I'm so confused, understanding not met

The answers I seek pull further away

There are so many thoughts I cannot forget.

My feelings falling in some sort of debt

Where hope feels beyond the bay

I'm so confused, understanding not met

My mind flies through thoughts like a jet

Each one hurts more day by day

There are so many thoughts I cannot forget.

My fingers disappeared, the fog has set

My hands feel numb reaching through dismay

I'm so confused, understanding not met

The past fills me with endless regret

Fighting through fog to get my mind away,

There are so many thoughts I cannot forget.

My puzzled mind is tangled in regret

Even the fog cannot hush what I say

I'm so confused, understanding not met

There are so many thoughts I cannot forget.
