Mask

A poem by Rae Tracey, freshman English Major + Communications Minor

smile

be bland

don't let it hurt

how could they know

the pain from their words

wave

fit in

don't cry when they leave

can't show that you feel

pretend you're happy

laugh

stay light

don't let the mask fall

they only see you

the way you are not

look

see me

don't fall for my tricks

my mask is in pieces

my heart full of bricks
