Belief Only Burns

Updated: Jun 3

A Poem by Telemachai

The forge of our belief only only burned

Never aiding in our redemption

Our dreams once hopeful and bright

Are burned to ash

Speaking out caused tongues to bleed

We forgot what laid beyond these walls

We forgot we were human outside this machine

Each gaze set on a star

Could be the last one we see

The deaths of sisters, brothers, siblings

And many others

Never stopped. Never slowed.

Those left behind decayed

Their path lost

Belief forgotten.

The fire in our belief burned

This fire brought our death.

Our dreams were no different

From the ash on the ground

Or dust in the wind.

Leaving behind nothing but memories

That were better left forgotten.

Times of whispered smiles and laughter gone

This pain never brought hope.

Our belief only burned

Our redemption never came

It could never save us.
