I had a Dream

Me and you were both in it

The grass had droplets of water

The sun was just rising

The air smelled damp and sweet

And for once in my life

I could catch my breath

And not have to worry

For one second my heart

Could keep beating

And for one second

I felt okay

I had a dream

You were gone

The grass was waving in the wind

The sun was hot

The air was dry

And for once in my life

I couldn’t breathe

I worried

And for one second

My heart stopped beating

And for one second

I was not okay

I had a dream

Me and you were both gone

The air was cold

The sun was setting

And the crickets hummed

And for once in my life

It was over
