Silly Cowboy Poem

A Poem by Anonymous

He was just a hard working man

But really he was just a boy who looked for love and appreciation through the land

Together they grew

On the ranch

Drinkin’ whiskey through and through

When it was time to say goodbye

He could not do nothin’ but cry

And hope that one day there eyes would meet some other time

That day came

They couldn’t hold back

The wife definitely saw what they did in the back

Unhappy with life

Unhappy with the kid

He wishes that conservative life wasn’t so mid

Back to the mountain they’d say “boatin” n “fishin”

In reality

Huggin’ n kissin’

Yeehaw let me ride this horsey

And with my wife I’ll get a divorcey

Just two cowboys that are a lil’ friendly

Jumpin’ in that river, those cowboys stay cleanly

Wife wrote a note in the tackle box

Didn’t read it too busy playing with cowboy...

doin’ cowboy stuff

Jack I love ya but I gotta go, got trucks to drive, got land to hoe

I’ll be back next year, same time dear

And down the same road they’d steer

But as they got older, their love grew colder

Meeting couple times a year

Just to feel warmer

But deep inside they shared the same love they’d knew former

I can’t live like this Ennis

Our love we gotta replenish

A cabin far away

That’s where our love can stay

“But you didn’t want it Ennis

So now what we got is Broke Back Mountain

That’s all we got boy!”

That’s the last time their eyes met

He didn’t know that would be last one yet

Letter in the mail

Suddenly Ennis was no longer tough but frail

Everything gone

Hopes put up on the shelf far too long

All that was left was his stained jacket

And the love and memories on Broke Back
